Why there are so many freelancers among designers? I don’t think that it’s so hard to find a permanent job today, especially if you have a strong portfolio and huge experience.
Let’s find out! I worked as a freelancer last 5 years. During this time a had at least 4 contracts with direct hiring, but i didn’t get rid of “freelance” habbit – i searched for other projects, of course to develop them in my free time. I’m wondering about the current situation on the jobs market. To find a job, i should have minimum 5 – 6 years experience and be an expert not only in design, but also in JS frameworks, PHP, Python and other.
I understand, when the web designer should know (x)HTML/CSS coding, because it’s depending for the full cycle of web design (create wireframes, prototypes etc.).
